Warriors of the Klingon Empire come to drink and sing songs of past glory

NuQ NeH, thlingan jegh'pu!

The Ej'yo mIch never ceases to amaze me...

They seem to have this "holy day," a time of reflection and celebration, but it is a study in contrasts...This "Halloween" is a celebration among some Fed-rats, to the effect of a "Day of the Dead"--they either commune with honorable ancestors--harmless enough--or puzzlingly fear their ancestor's jat'lyn, their "spirits", to terrorize them and possibly kill them...(Strangling sounds!) Better I die an old invalided accountant on a Ferengi world, than to deal with such brainless puj like that! Why take a fairly simple and honor-bound tradition of honoring fallen comrades and ancestors, and then FEAR them??? I would that the original Klingon, Kortar, would rip my jat'lyn from my frame, than feel "fear" from dishonorable pataQ like that!

Then even more strange--the Ej'yo mIch use masks to "portray" someone else--and seek succulents, soft morsels of food and snacks, from total strangers! Now I admit, using masks is honorable, in the right contexts--in Klingon opera or the original Wil'lem Shek'spehr plays--but to "act," just to eat?? Where is the lust for the Hunt? Where the joy and honor of the Kill? To eat sugar? That substance I find strange--it makes the average Klingon act hyperactive and surly--like too much bloodwine, only worse. If I defeated a great chef and warrior in personal combat, I might make him a servant of my House, and eat his special dishes--after my tasters, of course--but to hold a sack and beg, like a Ferengi worm, for an extra bit of latinum...

I lose my appetite for this "Halloween"--perhaps a banquet after glorious battle--now that is the "Treat" after the Honorable "Trick" of winning over the Enemy!

But in the jat'lyn of the "holy day"--May you have a "successful" Halloween--Go defeat someone, and then feast, like real Warriors of Kahless! Qap'la!

QiSin--NuQ NeH! Qap'la!

Truly this "DarH Vah Dur" persona has served you well, Kishin...

From what little I have heard of him he was a Dahar Master, but apparently became enamored of pursuing a PataQ's Folly, in pursuing power without honor, or a notion of true Warrior's Glory.

Vah Dur's failing was similar to my father's--the HadibaH, may he rot in Gret'thor for ever, with Fek'lehr's jaws a his throat!--Qorej was once a great Warrior, but he fell afoul of the Followers of Morath...The nemesis of Kahless the Unforgettable has a significant folowing, Kishin, and I am glad you do not follow the Fool's Path. Vah Dur and Qorej alike listened to the "easy ways", the instant gratification of power, without honorable responsibility, strategy, the thrill of battle or even the glory of a Warriors' victory. Vah Dur, if am correct, met his match in ObI Hwahn K'nbI, a true Warrior of the Way. I have heard whispers of he and his "jegh'DI" Order. They are very powerful indeed, and honorable to a fault.

This semi-legendary Master in K'nbI, is one I'd truly like to sit and drain a barrel of bloodwine with. He must have known Kahless in some reality--why else would he be so effective in removing a festering sore like Vah Dur? I removed the cancer from my family's House, and took Qorej's name--he, no the PataQ and warrior of no name nor House, died at my hands--honorable Combat? Others say so--I felt it like I was cleaning the Rel'k's stables. I simply had to remove the filth dirtying my House's honor. Now my House is whole once again--and honorable too.

On this other matter--what is jiQen shtoo? I understand beer--the finest of course the original Klingon--though there is Denevan Aieece'HauS, which I find almost as sweet as bloodwine. Now, the food you call RiS QriSpIS? I think that is familiar--I tasted a concoction on Sherman's planet, with puffed grain mixed with Fed-rat SuQr--

Kishin--If you risk your Klingon soul--tell no one how maddeningly sweet and addicting this substance is. If it the same "treat" you are speaking of--It took me three days to come down from that SuQr high! I despair of seeing my ship's crew ever again, setting aside even fresh gagh, to stuff themselves with empty calories and lightning-like energy. Beware, my friend, for this "snack" is an enemy at your door.

I must go now, and prepare to bombard a Gorn's forward base--the lizards want to see if Klingons dislike someone taking sunbaths on their colony worlds...We will "agressively negotiate" our opposing view--by destroying their new home! For Klingons! For Victory!

Qap'la!--QlarH sutai-Qorej, IKV Honored Death.

QlarH, I enjoyed your timely remarks on Hallowe'en.
Have to admit, it is my High Holy Day. I live in downtown Philly where the Trick or Treating can get--roughish. Back in 1982 I decided to stop avoiding the annual confrontation with aggressive teenagers underdressed for the occasion banging on the door. I assembled a recreation of the Darth Vader look of which I was kinda proud. Yeah, I'm a female. but I'm tall, and the lights on the belt and breastplate worked. It was so gratifying to throw the door back and hear the intake of breath.
I say, Klingons--arise and take back Hallowe'en! Fine--give out the sugary treats--but we adults can have a blast too. Ever since that year, I've made gallons of chicken stew, cooled the beer and champagne, cooked up Rice Krispies treats and invited the neighbors in.
I hope you all have a great one!
