Hello all back in NJ I was 345lbs now I am 260 I lost it by drinking watter not eating past 7pm and walking up and down my block 1 mile each way . it is a real B***H To take it off but all you have to do is put your mind to it You just have to believe in yourself . When I get the craving to munch I call my friends or start talking with my honey just to get my mind off the munchies Also Drink two or three large Glasses of watter before a meal .. And most of all take things at your own pace

I gained 7 lbs. and have not done very well trying to get rid of it yet. Sticking to my work out plan; its the food that's the problem (still have holiday goodies lurking in the house)

Since we are well into the new year, how did everyone fair against the dreaded holiday feasts? I for one did not do as well as I had hoped. I gained 5 lb my last post on Nov 24

Pardon me for this self-pat-on-the-back. I forgot my gym clothes yesterday, started to drive by the gym but then...turned right around and went in there and did my weight lifting routine in my darned work clothes! NO EXCUSES!!

I lost about twenty pounds doing one very simple thing: take a bite of food, put the utensils down, chew sloooooowly, savor the food, then pick up the utensils and take another bite. When you're full, or think you're full--we can't always tell in the beginning because we've been over eating for so long--stop eating. I found out I was full at about half the amount of food I usually ate.

I recomend cook books by Joanna Lund even my wife who can smell health food 6 parsec away like the recipes from her books she give the diabetic exchanges so no guess work on what you are eating

also I would like to add a small item to Captain K'Rad list
Specificly #3 do not drink all the water in one sitting, doing so could cause normal balance of electrolytes in the body to be pushed outside safe limits.

Now for some suggestions on what you can do to help you lose weight.

1. when you get a craving, try gum. Chewing it decreases your need to have that craving you have.
2. peace of mind; stress is a big factor in weight gain or loss, the least amount stress in your life the better you will be.
3. drink water, several 8oz glasses a day will keep you full and help you lose weight. and water is 0 calories.
4.learn to eat smaller portions and not eat much at night.
5. do not worry if you only lose a few or no pounds, take it slowly, you not on the biggest loser, where you under a harsh training session and monitored.
6 write down in a pocket notepad what you had to eat, you be surprised what you eat after a month of writing it down.
7. exercise is key to losing as well as eating folks, even a brisk 20 walk or a bike ride will make a WORLD of difference. oh every try raking leaves or shoveling snow, or yard work in general. believe it or not it is good exercise and a great stress releaiver as well
8 talk to folks, that why we have this group, to listen to what we and help when you can.
9. search for foods that are healthy for you, and folks READ the labels, dont take what on the front as the truth
10 try drinking tea or water more, stop the soda. if you do drink soda drink the sugar free.

I hope my top 10 list of ways to start losing weight and keep it off.
