Update on Las Vegas Star Trek Convention- The RIO

For those attending the convention here is some information you might like.

The Rio has a very large parking lot for their convention center, so they should be able to accomidate almost all the fans who drive in to the convention. It is located off of Rio Drive and Falmigo avenue. The Convention center is far enough away from the casino that people in costume won't need to worry about the law that facial obstructions are not allowed in casino areas. There are also fairly large restaurants inside that can accomidate convention crowds without having to go through the casino areas. The convention area is very large and should be able to handle the crowds of fans each day.

Transportation is available on the Monorail north or south to Flamingo. There is a shuttle bus from Bally's to the Rio. Regular buses and cabs are also available. At this time they have not said if they plan to increase the number of shuttle busses. While it has not been as hot here in Vegas as previous summers, it may still be hot enough to cause heat related illness problems. Make sure if you are attending to stay well hydrated. There is no shade in the parking lot right now and temperatures have already been up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
