Warriors of the Klingon Empire come to drink and sing songs of past glory

1) Dear Kleric K'Rehl...What or who first introduced you to Startrek...and what
made you have klingon persona....

I began watching Star Trek when I was 8 years old in 1968! Yes, I am old enough to remember Star Trek when it was brand new, and each episode was showing for the first time! As far as the Klingons go, David Gerrold first made me like them in his book "The Making of Star Trek" when he described them as the type of person who would "fart in airlocks". Who doesn't like a good fart joke!?! Plus, when the new Klingon look came out in the new series', it was one that really appealed to me. I used to be a Vulcan, back when they were the coolest aliens in the series. Needless to say, Klingons kicked their butts!

2) I understand your a priest in real life...how do you resolve your real life
beliefs with the Klingon culture.....

I am actually a Pastor rather than a priest, which may seem a small distinction from the outside, but is a major one doctrinally. As to resolving my real life calling with the Klingon culture - it is a simple matter of reality versus fantasy. The Klingon culture is a fascinating one, but is after all a fantastical one. Their take on the afterlife is not so different from other belief systems from mythology. I have the same take on things like Harry Potter and such - please people, get a grip! If you are going to throw out Potter because he is "satanic" or somesuch, then you have to throw out Lion, Witch, Wardrobe and Lord of the Rings, both of which were written by self-proclaiming and historically documented Men of God! All of them are fantasy, and if you give any one of them the power to run or rule over your life, I suspect you have bigger problems to deal with. to quote the Shat, "Get a life!"

3) I also understand your a Magician..how did you becone involved in magic
also...what magic tricks can you do....

I began my interest in magic when I saw Mark Wilson's Magic Land of Alakazam on TV when I was 7. I got my first magic set for Christmas that year in 1967, and I was hooked! I gave my first public performance when I was 11 for the astronomical sum of $5.00, and found out that people would pay me good money to make a fool of myself in public doing something I really loved, and that was the beginning of the end for me! I have been performing since then, and do everything from the small "walkaround" stuff you see in the restaurants, to full stage shows, featuring what are called the Grand Illusions: sawings, appearances, vanishes, etc.. probably my favorite small illusion is a rubber band trick called "Crazy Mans' Handcuffs" where one band visually penetrates the other. My favorite mid-sized illusion is called "Flesh Wound", where I cut my arm open, peel the skin back, then heal it completely. As far as Grand Illusions go, my favorite right now is called "Origami", where an assistant is placed into a long, body-sized box, which is then folded in on itself, until it is only about one foot square.

4) What other interests do you have ..or hobbies Kleric..

I love model railroads (N scale - the tiny ones!) Native American Flute (I am Cherokee), Blues Harmonica, and collecting Stryper (80's Christian Hair Metal band) memorabilia.

5) Do you have an interesting story-either real ife or event - you'd care to share
with all of us.....

My youngest son (20) and I went to our first Star Trek convention together this year (my first since 1977). He has social and learning challenges due to difficulties during his birth, which make it hard for him to socialize. At the convention he participated in the costume contest, and even sang in the "Red Headed Stepchild" karaoke, which were both HUGE steps forward for him! I could not have been any prouder, and Star Trek was the motivating factor! How much cooler can that be!?!

6) What is your favorite music and film and why.....

My favorite music is Heavy Metal. My favorite groups are Stryper, Demon Hunter, Evanescence, Alice Cooper, ZZ Top, and KISS

My favorite films are "Interview With The Vampire", "Queen of the Damned", "Fright Night", "The Howling", "Star Trek X", the "LOTR" trilogy, the newest "King Kong", the "Narnia" films, and about twenty million other great horror and sci-fi films from all eras, all in no particular order! Sci-Fi and Horror, especially the old Universal Monsters and "Fantastic Planet" era films are my absolute favorites of all.

Thank you dear Kleric for a truly fascinating
and wonderfu interview

Another wonderful interview! Thank you Lushy and thank you Kleric K'Rehl!
To Lushy for bringing us closer to a fascinating individual among us, thank you. And to Kleric K'Rehl, thanks for letting us know so much of you. A lot of friendship building consists of mutual revelation--really works! And these interviews are a terrific medium for that experience.
Your story of attending a Star Trek convention with your son and seeing him take part so actively gave me that old familiar "I Love Star Trek" thrill:-)
